Match-up management makes it important to wait until your opponent chooses their character before selecting your Ultra. BP are earned on a per-character basis, while PP represent your overall strength with all fighters. Ranked matches are best 2 out of 3 and offer no rematching. This mode does not affect BP or PP, but allows groups to fight and spectate. This was not possible in Street Fighter IV.

Street Fighter V updated to include more adjustments to Online Matchmaking
I decided to investigate Capcoms matchmaking; i was hoping to make an overlay for the game that would give detailed stats on connection quality. I opened a packet inspection tool called Fiddler and set it to analyse the network traffic from SFV. Connections between players are encrypted, but api calls to the matchmaking service are not. These 3 players have pings of ms, ms, and ms.
Here are my notes on what each api request is.

You can check your connection in the pre-match screen, and it will show if you are using P2P or relay connection, which will put you through a secondary source.
This will show how the game factors your distance between you and your opponent once the match begins. This update also addresses a bug that messes with battle confirmations in online matches but it will take some time to fix completely. What that means, is someone with a Status 5 connection will display as a Status instead. This does not affect gameplay.
